I have put my best effort and compositing skills applied to the fullest from what I’ve learned +experience, not slept a whole night to finish this and it’s entirely for my girl, us. Not even for the fan pairing that much…. I suppose it can be considered my best piece so far in terms of beat and lyrics matching, styling and special effects.
Before I get on with what I really want to say, I just wanted to ask you about that first paragraph. Are you implying that “fangirls” and “fanboys” aren’t “real fans” because they have ships? That’s a little narrow-minded, don’t you think? Someone can ship two (or more, for that matter) characters and still be able to see logic aside from that ship. Insinuating that shipping makes one less of a fan is like a slap in the face to the majority of the fandom. But anyway, that’s besides my point.
I think I can pretty much speak for at least 98% of people who ship HashiMada that we all know this pairing is not canon. Yes, Hashirama married Mito. Yes, it his very doubtful anyone would even have sexual thoughts of the same gender during that time period. And even if they did, as you said, there would be no motivation to act on it because the thought of peace had not yet risen. Of course, as close friends Madara and Hashirama both sought that peace, but more for the well-being on their respective clans than for anything possibly romantic between each other. It’s just common knowledge that we all — yes, including the shippers — understand and acknowledge completely.
But heaven forbid we use our imaginations. Isn’t that what roleplaying and fanfiction is generally about? Using our imaginations to bring the characters we choose to portray to life in our own innovative way? Be it sticking to canon through your own interpretation of that character’s character, or creating an AU where things are slightly or even majorly different. Roleplaying and fanfiction should be a place where people can freely express their opinions and fascinations without being judged for them.
Basically what I’m saying is, just because someone ships something doesn’t mean they’re deluded into thinking it’s canon. I’m fairly certain there’s no one out there who legitimately thinks HashiMada, or any other character pairing not clearly expressed in the manga/anime, is actually canon. And if there is, well. That’s their problem. Anyway, just because something isn’t canon shouldn’t mean that nobody should ship it. It’s up to the minds of roleplayers and fanfic writers alike what they like to read or roleplay about, how they like to perceive things to suit their fancies. That doesn’t mean we’re ignorant or any less of a part of the fandom, it just means we can use our imagination and can take pleasure in it.
It’s actually rather disrespectful to all RPers out there to call people out indirectly for shipping this. Isn’t it a general rule note to hate on people’s ships? Just because you’re giving facts that support your argument doesn’t make it any more acceptable. Leave roleplayers as they are. Don’t like a ship? Fine, ignore it. Don’t purposely call people out on it just because you don’t like it. It’s rude and defies proper roleplayer conduct.
Regarding the first para, I was referring to fans who shove their obsession in your face and refuse to believe otherwise. They can get really aggressive if you just mention that pairing is not canon. Jeez. Believe me, there are such people who are deluded. I have had bad experience a couple of years ago with similar individuals. Not nice at all. Sorry, I don’t believe they are real fans if they are so obsessed with it.
You are describing a person who acknowledges the fact a pairing is not canon but still ships it (perfectly ok). There is a difference between the two. And I find it hilarious there are so many statements for HashiMada, while none against it so as the guy who defies this world I had to make one. And besides, if nobody has anything against such statements, then no one should have anything against this particular opinion as well, right?
You also say arguments can’t be supported by facts..? It’s like saying a tree isn’t a tree even if its proportions prove it’s in fact a tree. Nobody likes a badly-told story without a logical connection. If fanfic writers wanted to flourish their imagination, then better write their own story with their own characters who can be gay, not use already established personages. I would be much offended if my fans suddenly started pairing me with my friend fr instance.
Yes, imagination is crucial to making up the events that create the stort but roleplaying in canon verse is about becoming someone else, more like acting it out on paper, not shifting the story the way my ego wants it to be. It’s about creating alternative situations and act them out as a particular character. An alter ego is established if the character is only fictional like in games where you make up the character’s story. Sometimes it can be a bad thing though, that’s why in RPG they put constraints. We try here by forbidding god-mode but some stories are just too…much. Like with the tree’s example.
Now, I know that for others may not be true, that’s why i said - don’t like, don’t read - in the begining. I don’t like fanfictions like those, so I don’t read them.
Basically, I was just randomly voicing out my opinion like everyone else pretty much does on the internet. Cause that’s what internet is about. Even about terrible fans ruining the fandom with their fangirling/fanboying because they have the right to express themselves. If they didn’t, that would hurt them emotionally because in the real world you can’t just freely discuss random thoughts like that.
Hello, beautiful people!
I know I have a lot of replies to get to and I would love to RP with you, because you are all so wonderful! Unfortunately I don’t have the time to hang on tumblr atm. I am busy with coursework, life and hobbies (cosplay performances/movie shootings). So this is just an announcement thingy to let you know I am not dead (much to everybody’s disappointment) and I don’t hate you/avoid you/ignore you/forgotten you, so please don’t feel bad. After my exams I will contact to let you know I will be replying to our thread.
As much as I enjoy roleplaying, I have to continue to pursue my goal of achieving the creation of this illusionary world. Roleplaying is an easy way out tbh. Actually visualizing this world is what is most beautiful.
Any queries, pm me skype.
No offence to the crazed/hyped hashimada fans out there… pelase, i do not desire to deal with obsessed fangirls. It is quite annoying ranting with fangirls, so go happily live in your fantasy and leave the logic to real fans. Don’t like? Don’t read. I will simply point out why this pairing is not canon. Simple. Felt like discussing it a bit after the post regarding MadaMito.
-Shinobi are not gay. They are simply tools to kill. They are warriors. They fight. That’s their life. Check with how japanese warriors were. Heck, they would commit seppuku if they had thoughts that betrayed them.
-Even if they were homo, there is a clear rule - “A shinobi must kill their emotions.” which was strongly applicable for their time. If you were been thought that rule all your life, how are you supposed to think outside of it? How to think of harmony while death is all around you? Indeed, both Madara and Hashirama could but they both knew the world didn’t and later Madara forsake it.
-No sexual interest whatsoever.
Neither Hashirama, nor Madara have shown sexual interest.desire toward the other. Hashirama is only protective of his friend, while Madara can be a bit eccentric when it comes down to fighting a proper opponent but that is not for love. He is not doing it because he wants to be with Hashirama, he is doing it for his own egoistic pleasure. Deal with it.
Observe them as children. They both have typical boyish behavior - boys stick with boys cause girls are weird. It’s like playing games with your friends. Plus love relationships never bother you. Were you in love with your best friend of same gender in kinder garden so much that you wanted to go fuck them? I think not…
-What to do when you see the person I love? Oh, why don’t you strangle him, butcher him with stakes and leave him rot on the ground? … Yeah, that… definitely do that, I am sure your mate would love to wake up with a knife in his belly…. If you really think Madara would behave in such a way towards a person he loves, then I think you haven’t really grasped his character at all….
-Hashirama had a wife and children. He loves his family (look at how he communicates to Tsunade) and it is a fact he places higher priority on them, then to Madara. Heck, if he were to chose, he would stand by his brother’s side than Madara’s.That was made clear when they were children.
-We don’t know anything about Madara’s sexual orientation but if I have to make a wild guess, I’d say he doesn’t really care for the matter. He is not an individual who would seek relationships because he always loses them so he just chose not to consider them at all.He is beyond simple stuff like that.
-As a Sage, Madara mentioned connecting eachother’s souls and there was a flashback with him and Hashirama by the river referring to what he meant. He also mentions that Rikudo’s goal was to use chakra to connect all people’s souls, that is, to make them all ”brothers” because only a brother wouldn’t consider hurting you. I strongly believe Madara thought of Hashirama as a brother as he says they had connected their souls because being connected to someone in this way requires to have been spending a lot of time with that other just like brothers growing up together.
Btw, if you are reading mangastream’s translation instead, I would have you know, they usually paraphrase a lot to suit their readers while mangapanda is more straightforward in their translations (that’s why sometimes some things sound weird but you can get the general meaning more from them, at least I, as a foreigner, see it so; ms tends to be a bit confusing often).
Well, take care C:)
Right. I am aware this is only a fan-pairing that will probably be never canon (one may only hope) but this reasoning is applicable to real life relationships so it is quite convincing. If you are interested, go on reading. If not, keep calm and scroll down.
First let’s think a bit about Hashirama’s character. Can you imagine him being romantic even for a bit? Seriously, just think about it. He is very much similar in character to Naruto. And we all know Naruto is not a romantic person. Sure, he can be trusted, he is a pure soul and indeed - that is what defines him as the good guy - innocence but he is not someone who will be mindful of a girl’s true needs.
Innocent people are simple, their thoughts and actions are not driven by inner conflicts, rather by their good-willingness and momentary desires, a need to give to others. They live for the moment and don’t care what their actions will bring as long as it’s right from their point of view. That is what makes them stable but also simple-minded, every-day guy on the corner who just sticks to his word and nothing more. They can’t understand another that deeply and truly. For them it’s all fine when it’s fine.
Now this probably reminds you of the prince on a white horse, the dream guy, who will always be there for you and save you, the perfect mate and you will be right to think so! Hashirama would make the perfect husband. He would be willing enough to give way to his wife, exchange pride for the better of a relationship and take care of his loved one because he wants to protect those precious to him.
Mito made a choice to be with the perfect man - protective, stable, strong, respected and respectful and yet, simple. She had a happy marriage and life with him by her side.
Although I can see Hashirama loving Mito, I can’t say the opposite. Mito is introduced as a COLD character at first - the leader of the Uzumaki clan, the strongest fuinjutsu user, first jinchuuriki of Kurama. She is seen as old but one can not determine if her old, now more experienced self that has been with Hashirama, is the same one she was back when she was a young woman who was yet to make a choice.
Also, one should pay attention that it was stated that the Uzumaki and Senju made a contract through the wedding of Hashirama and Mito, therefore it is highly probable that their marriage was not one of love, but of duty. And unless Mito is Hinata’s character type, which I see as highly improbable mainly because she is introduced as a strong independent woman who was commented by Madara himself (which means he acknowledges her abilities), then we can be sure Mito did not love Hashirama. Not at first at least. Yeah, she must have developed an affection later, but I am talking about the time before the marriage.
If there was an affair between Mito and Madara, even just a love interest, even if she loved him madly, it is common sense to pick the safer path.
Unlike simple-minded Senju, Madara can understand more of this world’s pain, more of a person’s inner world (connection to yin-yang and Rikudo’s sons here). He is smart but unlike the other, he is unstable. Adventurous, always on the dangerous side, defying this world, defying good. Admit it, girls, you have always wanted to break the law, be the bad girl with the bad guy but in the end you all end up in a safe environment with a normal man. Much like in Mito’s case.
Because that’s what humans look for - peace, stability. Anyone apart from that is bound to always be the outcast because they don’t act normal/as expected of them.
The cause, however, is not entirely to that. Stability is preferable but there is something else - it is because Hashirama was there physically for Mito, I don’t mean bed adventures, I am talking about being there for someone, physically being there for them - seeing them every day, getting to spend time together, enjoying their presence, doing activities together (in their case - maybe sorting out paperwork/village issues).
Madara was at war with the Senju, with the world. His presence was weak, he couldn’t be there for Mito because he had to fight every day.
A passionate love is bound to die eventually if all bonds are severed. Upon Madara leaving Konoha that bond was cut off forever. That is why most long-distance relationships don’t make it.
Furthermore, Mito had a whole clan reliant on her. Without the Senju’s support, they would be wiped out. Her people expected her to follow the clan’s wishes, fulfil her duty. Don’t overlook this. Having so many people pressuring you is huge… In a real life situation if you are not strong or patient enough, you will break, believe me. It’s like being in a cage constantly.
If there was some chemistry going on there between Madara and Mito this would most likely have been the consequence with reasons explained why. Thanks for reading. :) Would appreciate to hear your thoughts about it.
